Type Locality and Naming

"Bunopas (1981) gives details of the Lower Paleozoic in an area SE of Thong Pha Phum, closer to the city of Kanchanaburi. There he introduced the name Chao Nen Group (from the Chao Nen Dam, also called the Sri Nakharin Dam, 60 km NW of Kanchanaburi city). He divided the group into two formations: the Chao Nen Quartzite Fm (apparently correlating to Units A and B) overlain by the Tha Manao Limestone Fm (correlating to Units C, D and E of Hagen and Kemper, 1976)." (Kidd, 2011)
